For books that cannot be checked out using the self-checkout machine (e.g., long-term loans for research purposes), please bring them to the counter on the first floor of the main library (Document Supply Center).
Note
If you forget your student ID card, you will not be able to borrow books.
If you have overdue books, you will not be allowed to borrow new books.
If a book is designated as a course reserve, you may be asked to return it even during the loan period.

Please return the materials you borrowed to one of the following locations. Please note that items left in other locations will not be considered as returned materials.

If you are unable to visit the library to return materials by the due date, you can return them via mail. For more details, please refer to the page below.
Returning books Used in the Library
Materials that have not been checked out (used only within the library) should be returned to the return trucks inside the library. Library staff will place them in their designated locations.
If materials are returned to the wrong shelves, it will be extremely difficult to locate them. Please do not return them to the shelves yourself under any circumstances.
If you fail to return books past the due date, you will not be able to borrow new materials during that time. Additionally, the following overdue fees will be charged.

Overdue fees are incurred when overdue books are returned. Please settle the fees as soon as possible when they are charged.

How to pay overdue fines
1. Payments at the Desk
Please confirm the amount at the counter, purchase a revenue stamp (Shoshi) from the stamp vending machine in the library, and make your payment.
2. Payments by Mail
If you are unable to visit the library, please send the equivalent amount of the overdue fee in cash via registered mail (Genkin Kakitome) or purchase postage stamps equivalent to the overdue fee and mail them to the address below. Payments that do not match the exact overdue fee amount cannot be accepted.

You can check the due dates of the books you have borrowed, the presence of overdue books, overdue fees, and reserved books on MyLibrary.
Reserve a book
If the book you want to borrow is currently checked out, you can make a reservation. For items that are checked out, click the "Reserve" button at the detailed view on the OPAC search results page to place your request.
Reserved books will be held for 3 days (ordinary books) or 1 day (course reserve books). You will automatically receive a notification at your ICU-issued email address (XXXXXXX@icu.ac.jp) when the book becomes available.
Renewing Due Dates
If there are no reservations from other users, you can extend the loan period for the designated borrowing period starting from the day you complete the procedure. Renewals can be made through MyLibrary, the self-checkout machine, or at the counter. If you renew at the self-checkout machine or the counter, please bring the book you wish to renew and your ID card.
Online Renewal via MyLibrary
The maximum number of renewals allowed via MyLibrary is as follows.
From the "Your Borrowing/Reservation Status" section in MyLibrary, click the "Renew" button displayed for the book you wish to extend. Please note that online renewal is not available if the maximum number of renewals has been reached (including cases where the first renewal was made via the self-checkout machine or at the counter).
